using cornelius keg

hi,im going to use a corny keg for the first time and i intend to carbonate it with brewing sugar as i usually do with bottles.my question is will i also need to use co2? i have only got the on tour co2 pack at the moment as a trial,i have set up the keg in a fridge with a hole in the top leading up to my tap,any hints and tips will be greatly appreciated

You dont need Co2 in order to fill and carbonize a keg with sugar. But its some advantages if you can use Co2.
First of all its a good idea to flush out the air on top of the beer with Co2. This is done by pressurize the keg a little and then let it out through the safety valve. Do this 2-3 times.
The second reason to use Co2 after filling the keg is to make sure its free from leaks. I use to fill 3,5 bar pressure to the keg so all the O-rings settle down before i store the keg.
But i guess you can use this on tour packet for this purpose too.
